In this article, I'll be explaining how you can stream to Twitch, directly from your PS5 without needing to have a capture card.

If you're new here, be sure to check out The Streamer Academy where I help you start, build, and succeed as a streamer. There are tons of free resources available for you to utilize that will help grow your stream.

Linking Your Twitch Account to Your PS5

The first thing you're going to do is go to settings on your PlayStation.

Once you're here, select 'User and Accounts' and then go to 'Linked Services'. Scroll down to find Twitch and this is where you're going to link your account. It will give you the option to scan a QR code or go to the Twitch link to get signed in.

Connect to Twitch

I'm going to grab my phone and scan the QR code. This is going to walk me through the steps and ask me to activate my device using the code on my PS5. Then, I'll select 'Activate on My Phone' and get logged into my Twitch account. Again, there will be on-screen prompts to help you get signed in.

Once you're logged in, you're going to give authorization to Twitch and then you'll receive a message that your account is linked.

Linked Twitch and PS5

You'll select 'Done' and then go to your PlayStation home screen.

Getting Ready to Go Live

Before you can go live on Twitch, you need to select what game you'll be playing. You aren't able to go live from your PlayStation dashboard.

I'm going to open the Marvel Rivals as the game that I'll be playing during my stream. Once you've selected your game, press the 'Create' button on your controller and hold that. This is going to open up a menu on the bottom of the screen and you'll go over to where it says 'Broadcast'.

For the 'Service', you'll want Twitch to be selected. If, like me, you have YouTube connected as well and need to change the service, press the three dots next to 'Go Live', and change this to Twitch. You can only stream to one service at a time on your PlayStation.

Adjusting Your Broadcast Settings

When you've done this, press the three dots by 'Go Live' and select 'Broadcast Options' so that we can adjust some of these settings to make sure that our Twitch stream looks professional.

The first thing you'll see is 'Display Camera'. If you have a camera that's connected to your PlayStation, then you can use this to display that camera here. I usually have this off since it makes the camera appear on the monitor, meaning that it's blocking your gameplay.

Next is 'Display Chat'. This allows you to have your Twitch chat show up directly on your monitor so that you can interact and engage with your audience. If you don't want this on your monitor, you can always have Twitch open on your phone and you can display it there as well.

For 'Display Activity', I usually have this turned off too. It just shows the amount of viewers that you have and is just another element that's going to block the gameplay.

For the 'Overlay Position', I leave this set to 'Bottom-Right'.

Super important, if you want the people that you're playing the game with to be heard and they're inside a PS5 Party audio with you, then you need to make sure that both you and them have 'Include Party Audio' selected.

As for the 'Video Quality', I would encourage you to go ahead and select '1920 x 1080 at 60 fps' to try to get the best possible quality stream.

Broadcast Settings

Adding Your Title and Going Live

Now, you'll go out of 'Broadcast Settings' and add your title. It's very important for you to have a title that makes viewers interested. My title is "Bronze to grandmaster solo q in 1 stream".

Title for Twitch Stream

You want a title that makes people say, "I want to click on this stream."

Now, once you're ready, you can simply press 'Go Live'. As long as you have your microphone connected to your controller or if you have a USB microphone connected to your PlayStation, then your stream is going to be able to hear you.

Once you press 'Go Live', your stream will pop up on Twitch and you'll begin to see your chat and the engagement from viewers. Again, you can reach out to your viewers either through Twitch on your phone or on your PlayStation.

When you're done streaming, you'll come back to this same section and select 'End Broadcast'.

If you want to have a professional-looking stream with overlays, graphics, and alerts, but don't want to use OBS Studio, StreamLabs, or have a capture card, check out this video here. In this video, I walk you through how to add overlays to your console streams utilizing a tool called LightStream.
